The Brief

User Conversion is a team of super cool and down-to-earth conversion rate optimisation specialists in Manchester. They work with some of the world’s most exciting brands including BrewDog, Sports Direct and Boots to transform their digital performance. When they first approached us, we were briefed to look at a series of new branded assets and designs for presentation materials.

After digging deeper, we discovered there was a bigger opportunity to work together to develop the brand positioning, brand language and visual brand identity; to look and feel more mature, better reflecting the growth of the agency and the nature of work they are now doing with their clients - all without losing their personality and approachable style.

What we did

We began by immersing ourselves in getting to know User Conversion; who they are, what they like, what they don’t like, how they speak, their personality, how they are seen vs how they want to be seen. Then a rapidly spreading virus (you may have heard of it) threw us a curveball and we had to adapt. Working from home, we continued our research and discovery and through an interactive visual workshop, highlighted that User Conversion were big fans of simple but strong wordmarks, human and authentic language (with a touch of humour) and the use of pattern.

Taking to the drawing board, we designed and presented three different creative routes which would encapsulate everything we had learned. User Conversion’s favourite route was ‘Dynamic U’: a simple strong wordmark, a bright and bold digital colour palette, and a suite of unique U’s which reflect their guiding principles of Journey, Craft, Teams and Information. The shapes making up the different Us also lend themselves well to creating distinctive patterns.



The Outcome

The User Conversion team was chuffed with the new look and feel of their brand - receiving lots of positive comments from across industry. We were then briefed to roll it out onto their website, which then became the next chapter of the project. Driven entirely by a content-first approach and our insight into User Conversion’s target audiences, the website was written, designed and then custom built with the user’s needs and pain points in mind - finished off with bespoke illustrations, graphics and animations.
